PERPETRATORS OF THE COUP AND MINDERS OF THE FORMER REGIME

The Nasheed government contends that elements within the current judiciary, in effect, shield opposition MPs, as well as the former President, his family and allies, from ever facing justice. They all have numerous cases of corruption, embezzlement, sexual misconduct and many more against them their family members and senior members of the former regime. None of the cases have been concluded or brought to sentencing. 

Nasheed’s attempt at reforming the judiciary would have completely toppled the old order and Gayyom and his cronies would be no more.

Thus a coup was planned financed and executed.
