Wataniya & ROL to contribute to the 21 Million Dollar submarine communication cable initiated by Dhiraagu. This will allow sharing of the bandwidth with these internet providers to rest of the Maldives. They claim to have leaned a lesson by the non-sharing attribute of Gayyoom era which made Dhiraagu and Wataniya to use separate antennas for their mobile services. There are two very ugly antennas as the largest and tallest structures on many islands. The sharing agreement of the submarine cables is an initiation by the Communication Authority of Maldives who’s Gayyoomist mandate expired in 2010 allowing MDP government to make corporations responsible. This is only wishful thinking. “Same shit different people” said one of my friends on the phone.
