Civil disobedience is, traditionally, the breaking of a civil law to obey a higher law, sometimes with the hope of changing the unjust civil law. \u2026 But we should speak of such actions as divine obedience, rather than civil disobedience. The term \u2018disobedience\u2019 is not appropriate because any law that does not protect and enhance human life is no real law.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This only makes sense if you equate \u201chigher\u201d with \u201creligious,\u201d which, to my mind, narrows the scope unnecessarily.<\/p>\n

I think Civil Disobedience remains the better\u2014i.e., more accessible\u2014word choice.<\/p>\n
