ART<\/strong><\/p>\n

To justify artist\u2019s professional, parasitic and elite status in society,
he must demonstrate artist\u2019s indispensability and exclusiveness,
he must demonstrate the dependability of audience upon him,
he must demonstrate that no one but the artist can do art.<\/p>\n

Therefore, art must appear to be complex, pretentious, profound,
serious, intellectual, inspired, skillful, significant, theatrical,
It must appear to be caluable as commodity so as to provide the\u00a0artist with an income.<\/p>\n

To raise its value (artist\u2019s income and patrons profit), art is made\u00a0to appear rare, limited in quantity and therefore obtainable and\u00a0accessible only to the social elite and institutions.<\/p>\n

FLUXUS ART-AMUSEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

To establish artist\u2019s nonprofessional status in society,
he must demonstrate artist\u2019s dispensability and inclusiveness,
he must demonstrate the selfsufficiency of the audience,
he must demonstrate that anything can be art and anyone can do it.<\/p>\n

Therefore, art-amusement must be simple, amusing, upretentious,\u00a0concerned with insignificances, require no skill or countless\u00a0rehersals, have no commodity or institutional value.<\/p>\n

The value of art-amusement must be lowered by making it unlimited,\u00a0massproduced, obtainable by all and eventually produced by all.<\/p>\n

Fluxus art-amusement is the rear-guard without any pretention\u00a0or urge to participate in the competition of \u201cone-upmanship\u201d with\u00a0the avant-garde. It strives for the monostructural and nontheatrical\u00a0qualities of simple natural event, a game or a gag.
